Big springs rise by the feet of the western “Marsica”
calcareous mountain range, often with huge flows , like the
one that form the lake of Posta Fibreno. The lake is sited
about 290 mts above sea level, and it is nothing but the
spring, 30 hectares wide and up to 45 mts deep, of the
homonymous river known as “the river of Cicerone”, because
it lapped on the properties of the famous roman literary man
before flowing into the Liri. |
